A new Acting Vice Chancellor of Tansian University has been appointed.
He is Professor (Hon) DN Carter Umeoduagu.
Until his appointment, Prof. Umeoduagu was the Deputy Chancellor Academics And University Advancement of Tansian University and former member representing Aguata 1 in the State House of Assembly.
Addressing Professors, Deans and HODs at the Senate Chamber of the Universty, he observed that Professors as the pivot on which the University rotates, must steer the citadel of learning towards the founding ideals of academic and spiritual excellence.
He observed that every academic staff must exhibit a high sense of responsibility and decorum visa vis maintaining high examination standards, as mechanism has been put in place to evaluate the performance of lecturers by the students.
The erudite scholar who advocated for a new Tansian University, announced that henceforth, the retirement age for academic staff in the University is pegged at 75, while those on contract should renew their contract annually or deemed to have voluntarily given up their appointments in violation.
