Induction And Oath Taking Ceremony of Tansian University Nurses

 
One hundred and nine eager white uniforms filled the Tansian University  auditorium  of the Oba campus, as a new generation  of nurses took their professional oath.

The air hummed with quiet emotion and anticipation on this landmark induction day.

For those 109 graduates, the long night of studying human Anatomy, endless clinical rotations and grueling practical examinations  had finally culminated in a single defining moment of being inducted into the Nursing  and Midwifery  Council of Nigeria  (NMCN), under the inspiring theme "Our Nurses, Our Future, Empowered Nurses Save Lives."

Speaking on the occasion, the Registrar and Chief Ececutive Officer, Nursing and Midwifery  Council of Nigeria,  Alhaji Ndagi Al- Hassan, who was represented by the Head of Department of Planning, Research and Statistics of the Council , Mr. Aliu Adamu observed the evolving technological advancement in the field of Nursing, globally and expressed the importance of producing Nurses that are well equipped with the requisite knowledge,  clinical skill and professional intelligence to showcase in the professional healthcare system in the country. 

Alhaji Hassan also advocated for the integration of Artificial Intelligence in the transformation of Nursing education in Nigeria, while congratulating the graduates for painstakingly  going through the rigorous  but blissful future of Nursing profession in the world.

The Acting Vice Chancellor of Tansian University, Prof. (Hon) Carter N.D. Umeoduagu, in his remarks, admonished the inductees to be good ambassadors of the University and always exhibit  high sense of professional conduct wherever they find themselves.

The  Chairperson on the occasion, Professor  Stella Okunna, who congratulated the graduates and their parents for the academic exploits and support, charged them to always be proud of their alma mater and be of good  conduct. 

The Keynote speaker on the occasion,  Associate Professor Peace Iheanacho Njideka, described the theme of the induction as apt and observed the pivoral role Nurses play in the healthcare system of the country, for according to her,  "Nurses are the first and last lines of defence and the heartbeat of healthcare system, globally."

However, the Associate Professor,  expressed dismay at the poor motivation of Nurses despite their enormous  contributions in the healthcare sector, and advised that their impact will be fully felt if they are adequately empowered.; noting that the theme of the induction purposes on making the possible changes needed to harvest the power of Nursing workforce.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Head of Department of Nursing  Science, Tansian University,  Associate Professor  Chukwudi Afam Ndu, who saw the induction as a culmination of years of academic study, clinical training, discipline, sacrifice and perseverance,  reminded the graduates that as they take their professional oath, they should be mindful that Nursing is a commitment to humanity and a call to care for people with compassion, competence,  dignity, integrity and respect.

The high points of the occasion were the administration of oath to the inductees, presentation of awards to the best graduating student,  best student leadership, best behaved student, best in research,  as well as other awards.

Hand Over of Bus to Tansian University by Mr. Peter Obi

A 32 Seater Coaster bus was today (20th August, 2026) officially handed over to Tansian University Management, for the use of Nursing Department of the institution by Mr. Peter Obi.

Speaking while handing over a letter of appreciation to the former Anambra State governor Mr. Obi, who was represented on the occasion by the former Commissioner of Information and Chief of Staff in Peter Obi’s administration, Professor Stella Okunna. the Pro- Chancellor of Tansian University. Prof. Ellis Idemobi, expressed appreciation to Mr Peter Obi for graciously  donating a sum of money that helped to procure the bus.

Prof. Idemobi was of the view that the bus will in no small measure alleviate the transportation problem of the Nursing Department,  which he said, is critical for the sustainability of the department as well as ensure academic excellence; but not without thanking Prof. Okunna for the facilitation.

In her speach, Prof. Stella Okunna expressed happiness at what is going on at the Nursing Department  visa vis their academic exploits.

Also speaking,  the Acting Vice Chancellor of Tansian University, Prof. (Hon) DN Carter Umeoduagu, who expressed gratitude to Mr. Peter Obi for always being supportive to the University, described it as a good signature for the progress of the great citadel of learning. 

Some principal officers of the University were also present at the brief ceremony.

Interactive Session Between The Chancellor And Staff of Tansian University

 The Management of Tansian University has directed the immediate re-opening of Oba campus, starting from today (17th June, 2026).

The re-opening which will be in two batches of Wednesday and Thursday respectively, is accompanied with retreat and cleansing Mass inorder to re-channel the characters of the students on the part of moral rectitude.

Speaking at the Umunya campus auditorium of the University during an interactive session with the staff ,  the Chancellor of Tansian University, Very Rev. Fr. Prof. Edwin Obiorah (SAN) admonished the students to be of good character and face their studies with every sennse of responsibility and decorum. 

He identified external insinuations,legal tussles, impersonation,     as some of the negative vices that bedeviled the institution in the past but expressed optimism that the university is now on the path of sustainable growth, internal peace and tranquility.

He advised the members of staff to desist from unholy alliance with interlopers who have no future other than to forment troubles; and warned of consequences of such alliance. 

The University Chancellor who condemned acts of brigandage by those who hijacked the university's website, expressed the hope that sooner, the NCC will prevail on Google to release the website  and all the data there in, to the university.

Also speaking, the Pro- Chancellor, Prof. Ellis Idemobi who appealed for unity of purpose among the staff of the University. decried scandalous publications as inimical to that basic foundation for which the university was built. 

In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor of the University,  Prof. E.O Nwadialor, thanked the Chancellor for the insight and exposition of what has been transpiring in the university.

New Acting Vice Chancellor of Tansian Universty, Appointed.

 A new Acting Vice Chancellor of Tansian University has been appointed. 

He is Professor (Hon) DN Carter Umeoduagu.

Until his appointment,  Prof. Umeoduagu was the Deputy Chancellor Academics And University Advancement  of Tansian University and former member representing Aguata 1 in the State House of Assembly. 

Addressing Professors, Deans and HODs at the Senate Chamber of the Universty, he observed  that Professors as the pivot on which the University rotates, must steer the citadel of learning towards the founding ideals of academic and spiritual excellence. 

He observed that every academic staff must exhibit a high sense of responsibility and decorum visa vis maintaining high examination standards, as mechanism has been put in place to evaluate the performance of lecturers by the students. 

The erudite scholar who advocated for a new Tansian University,  announced that henceforth, the retirement age for academic staff in the University is pegged at 75, while those on contract should renew their contract annually  or deemed to have voluntarily given up their appointments in violation.

Interactive Session Between The Acting Vice Chancellor Tansian University And Non Teaching Staff

 The non- teaching staff of Tansian University have been urged to be prompt, diligent and committed in the discharge of their duties. 

Speaking in an interactive session with the workers at the Law auditorium of the institution, the new Acting Vice Chancellor of the University. Professor (Hon) DN Cater Umeoduagu, urged the staff to be punctual at the start of work by nine o'clock in the morning, with the exit point at four o'clock in the afternoon. 

Prof. Umeoduagu who represented Aguata one constituency in the 7th Anambra State House of Assembly, expressed appreciation  for the hard work and diligence so far exhibited by the workers and assured them of promotion, which he said, is going to be an annual exercise. 

The erudite Professor also admonished the workers to always radiate love as well as  nurture cordial relationship amongst themselves, while advocating for increased  productivity and efficiency.  

Also contributing, the Dean of Management And Social Sciences. Professor Anthony Ngonadi, who is also the Chairman of Appointment And Promotion Committee, explained the procedure to addressing the complaints of irregular placement and denial of promotions from staff.

The session featured suggestions, questions and answers from the the staff and the Acting Vice Chancellor.

 The Acting Vice Chancellor of Tansian University Prof. (Hon) DN Carter Umeoduagu, has emphasized the importance of cleanliness to the overall development of the University. 

Addressing a cross section of sanitation workers at the Convocation Arena of the University, the Acting Vice Chancellor who urged them to work conscientiously and assiduously towards living up to the responsibilities entrusted in their care, acknowledged the pivotal role sanitation workers play all over the world.

Prof. Umeoduagu who charged them to see the whole of the University as their primary constituency in making sure the institution is clean, assured them of the preparedness of the management to improve their working conditions if they perform optimally.

The erudite Professor  who urged them to assume the role of supervisors in checkmating the incessant littering of the campus by some students,  observed the need for them to send the names of students' violators to the University authority for disciplinary action.

He reminded them of the need to assume work at their usual time of 7.00 am and close by 4 00 pm. daily, with ofcourse penalties for those who violate the work ethics of the University.

In his speech, the Director of Works of the University, Engineer Emmanuel Okonkwo, who praised the humility and accessibility of the Acting Vice Chancellor, urged the workers to exhibit a high sense of responsibility in the discharge of their duties, for according to him " cleanliness is next to godliness".

In her reaction during the question and answer session, one of the workers, Mrs. Eunice Ezenwa, who commended the Acting Vice Chancellor for his humane disposition, assured on behalf of her colleagues that they will discharge their duties with every commitment that it deserves.
